INRAE presentation

The French National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food, and the Environment (INRAE) is a public research establishment. It is a community of 12,000 people with more than 200 research units and 42 experimental units located throughout France. The institute is among the world leaders in agricultural and food sciences, in plant and animal sciences, and is 11th in the world in ecology and environment. INRAE’s main goal is to be a key player in the transitions necessary to address major global challenges. In the face of the increase in population, climate change, scarcity of resources and decline in biodiversity, the institute develops solutions for multiperformance agriculture, high quality food and sustainable management of resources and ecosystems.

Work environment, missions and activities

You will be welcomed in the unit Agroecologie, a joined research unit between INRAE, Univ. Bourgogne Franche-Comté, Agrosup Dijon (France)

Our Post-doctoral position is available on grapevine functional genomics during plant pathogen interactions and PAMP-Triggered Immunity to work with Pr. Benoit POINSSOT in our Department of Plant Microbe Interactions.

The aim of the project is to characterize genes of the VvLYK family encoding LysM-Receptor Kinases (Brulé et al., 2019) that are putatively involved in the grapevine perception of diverse chito-oligosaccharides (COS).

The lab is located on the Dijon’s campus, an attractive city for its wide variety of food and wines, and an active area for plant research in agroecology. The 24-months position will start in October 2020. For further information about research in the lab please see: https://www6.dijon.inrae.fr/umragroecologie

You will be in charge of:

You will develop functional genomics strategy to knock-out (CRISPR-Cas9, RNAi…) or overexpress candidate genes in grapevine in order to study loss/gain of function phenotypes after COS treatment and basal resistance of the plantlets during their interactions with the fungus Erysiphe necator (powdery mildew) and the fungus Botrytis cinerea (gray mold) or during the COS-induced resistant.

You will work in a Plant2Pro project in collaboration with colleagues at UMR EGFV (Bordeaux) and IFV (Le Grau du Roi), therefore a good mobility is required for this position.

Training and skills

PhD

A Ph.D in plant biology, biochemistry or molecular biology is required. Demonstrated expertise in modern biological methods (CRISPR-Cas9, RNAi…), bioinformatics and a good publication record are essential. Motivation and excellent communication skills are required. Experience with plant pathogen interactions and molecular biology is highly desirable.

Send an application letter, a statement of research interests and a CV including the names of three references. Review of applications will begin on July 2020 and will continue until the position is filled.
